Merete Pryds Helle has a large and varied collection of works. Her earlier work particularly focuses on themes such as climate, and she is one of the Danish authors who were highly preoccupied with natural sciences and ecology in the 1990s. Her books “Vandpest” (1993) and its sequel “Men Jorden står til evig tid” (1996) were just re-published in 2020, and one astonished reviewer in Denmark noted that the books are “like written in the new millennium”. The author is also known for experimenting with formats and language. Merete Pryds Helle’s big popular breakthroughs were “Folkets skønhed” (2016) and its sequel “Vi kunne alt” (2018). The books are family sagas which especially focus on the theme of women’s Danish history.
